We have prepared self-drive routes for all who will travel in Kyrgyzstan. The country is presented by the variety of mountains, ranges, lakes, routes, paths, rivers, streams. And everything is at the altitudes.
Guests taking a tour on the rented car should know that roads are of bad condition, especially in the mountains. For getting to the distant sites it is better to take 4WD off-road trips. So, here are the routes which can be taken in the country:
One of the first sites of recommendation is Ala Archa gorge. It is located in 45km from Bishkek, at the altitudes of 1600-4800m above sea level. It is a perfect place for all to hike, to view panoramas and just enjoy pristine mountain air.
Then we can recommend visiting the Chon Kemin gorge. It is a place famous for horse-riding opportunities. Here there is a forest and ranges, all of these create ways of covering the sites on horses. Local people will show how to start communication with a horse, and then the way which can be taken.
Right from here we make a way to the pearl of the country - Issyk Kul Lake. The lake is a popular member of all Kyrgyzstan tours programs. It is at the height of 1600m above sea level, never freezes and both shores are sites of the location of significant buildings. Being here visit Grigoryevskoe and Semenovskoe gorges, Jeti Oguz gorge, Barskoon waterfalls and Fairy Tale (Skazka) Canyon.
Not far from the lake there is Karakol town, known for Russian Orthodox Church, Dungan Mosque and Memorial Museum of N. M. Przhevalsky. Here guests can immerse in nature, in the history of the Kyrgyz people.
Then the next destination will be the village Kochkor. Here guests can take the skills of carpet's creation, of traditional Kyrgyz music and of course way to the other sites. Near the village visitants are driving to Tash Rabat and Son Kul Lake. The first used to be the main place for all going along the Great Silk Road, there is also the pit for prisoners. The Lake is located at the altitude of 3016m above sea level. It is peculiar for being available only from June to September as snow covers all the territory. It is cold there, due to the altitudes.
Members of Kyrgyzstan tours should take in account the village Kazarman, as one of the most interesting places of the Kyrgyz history and culture. It is the site which was passed by all going along the Silk Road, it is the border with Uzbekistan.
As we have decided to show the entire country, guests are taken to Jalal Abad. It is the region of the biggest natural walnut forest - Arslanbob. Here there are legends and myths, of course. But the main idea that despite tons of walnut harvest, such trees as apple, pear and cherry grow here.
In the same region visitors should see the biggest water reservoir Toktogul on the river Naryn. It is located on the river, but the river is going also through Central Asia, not only of our country. The main attention should be put to the Tien Shan Mountain Range. It is the main range of Central Asia with pure air, pristine forest and amazing pastures and valleys.
